17th October 2010 - Red Baron to visit Bottisham and Duxford
  • The Red Baron is hoping for good weather on Sunday 17th October 2010.

He is planning a visit to  Bottisham Airfield Museum & Duxford Imperial War Museum tomorrow.

After conducting an aerial reconnaissance of Bottisham Airfield Museum, he will fly over to The Imperial War Museum at Duxford, and inspect their runways, and have a nice cup of tea.

He will then proceed to Bottisham Airfield by road meet up with old friends and congratulate them on their amazing achievements, more tea will probably be consumed, then he will journey back to Duxford Imperial War Museum prior to flying back to Sywell Aerodrome where they also have a rather super Museum.

Press Release From Bottisham Airfield Museum

We are pleased to announce the formal opening of Bottisham Airfield Museum on Sunday 17th October between 10.30am-4pm.

Bottisham was the home to various RAF, Belgian and USAAF units during WW2 and is perhaps most famously associated with 361st FG, the “Yellowjackets.”

The museum is one of the airfield buildings in Bottisham village. Bottisham is approximately 10 minutes drive from Cambridge.

G-FOKK Appears in Channel Four Film - "Fighting The Red Baron"

We were delighted to assist in the making of this amazing film for Channel 4.

Two Red Arrows pilots set out to recreate the challenges the aviators of World War 1 faced,
flying original WW1 aircraft, to find out how this pioneering form of warfare changed so rapidly
    during the conflict
    • They fly original WW1 aircraft,
    • carry out the key challenges the plane took on in the course of WW1:
    • Try their hands at photo reconnaissance, artillery ranging and bombing missions,
    • The finale is a classic dogfight in replica period aircraft  -
    • including our very own Fokker Triplane - kitted out with camera guns.

Our great friends Matt Boddington & Steve Slater allowed the  Biggles Biplane  Hanger at Sywell to be used for filming purposes, and a great time was had by all.
